Albuquerque is a mix of old and new, and the Old Town area is no exception. While you can feel the rich history of the area, you can also find places that are modern and on the cutting edge. The Explora Museum is that.
Take a science museum, make everything hands on and an absolute blast for little kids and you will get Explora.
There were exhibits on water, color, sound and flight. In fact, there are over 250 activities and exhibits! The kids were playing so hard, they didn’t even realize how much they were learning.
But I did.
I love it when the kids learn a concept easily by doing something hands on. I struggled so much with science concepts when I read them in books. I still do! But seeing them grasp something immediately by seeing it in action brings as much joy to me as it does to them.
I was at least 30 when I really grasped the laws of aerodynamics. Because of things like this Explora exhibit, my 7 year old can spout it off in a way that impresses her father. Explora is the definition of an enriching activity!
The Explora Museum is an absolute gem, and a must do in the city of Albuquerque. It is great for an afternoon activity, especially when the heat of the summer makes the little ones want to head indoors. The kids could have spent all day there, though. It was hard getting them out of the museum and on to our next activity.
